Frequently asked questions
- How does the strength meter work?
- It estimates how hard the password would be to guess, based on its length and the size of the character set you chose. More characters and a wider mix push it from weak toward very strong. A long password with several character types is hardest to crack.
- What does "exclude look-alike characters" do?
- It leaves out characters that are easy to confuse, such as the lowercase L, the number one, the capital O and the number zero. This makes a password easier to read and type by hand without weakening it much, which helps when you have to copy it off a screen.
- Is the password sent anywhere or saved?
- No. The password is built on your own device and never leaves it. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored, so once you copy or note it down, it exists only where you put it.
- Is the result actually random?
- Yes. Picks, spins, rolls and shuffles use your browser’s built-in random number source, so every option has the same chance each time. There is no hidden weighting and no memory of past results, so a run of the same answer is just chance, not a pattern.
- Does anything I enter get sent to a server?
- No. Everything runs locally in your browser. The names, options, images or beats you put in are handled on your own device, nothing is uploaded, and nothing is logged or stored. Once the page has loaded, it keeps working even if you go offline.
